Chelem is approximately a 40-minute drive from Rejon International Airport in Merida. Merida is served by flights from/to:
- Miami, FL with American
- typically afternoon arrival and afternoon departure
- Houston, TX with United
- typically evening/night arrival and early morning departure
- Various Canadian Cities including Toronto
- Mexico City, Mexico with Aeromexico/Delta, Volaris, Interjet, and others
We prefer the Miami connection.
You can also fly into Cancun instead of Merida.
If you decide to rent a car and drive from Cancun, the drive is approximately 4 hours on the toll road (less than $50 US).
A new highspeed rail service is also now running from Cancun to Merida and the trip is under 3 hours. Tickets (which are reasonably priced) can be purchased from the official site.
There is also a bus service from Cancun to Merida which will be much cheaper than the train and is clean and reliable.
