What should we bring with us?
Not much more than your clothes and swimsuits. Casa Kaana is stocked with bed linens, bath towels, beach towels, pots, pans, cooking utensils, plates, glasses and silverware. Small appliances include: microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, and blender. Basic toiletries like soap and shampoo are provided. You can also arrange for our management company, Yucatan Vacations, to provide some initial supplies in the refrigerator for your arrival.
How will I get the keys to the house?
Once you have booked your visit, you will be contacted by our house management company Yucatan Vacations. They will arrange to meet you upon arrival to give you a set of keys and show you the house.
Is it safe to travel to Mexico?
In short, yes. The Yucatan state, including the city of Merida, is one of the safest areas to travel in Mexico. You will occasionally see police set up on the highways or roads into town, including Chelem. This is a proactive measure to ensure that the drug problems that have affected other states do not cause problems in the Yucatan state. In nearly all cases, cars are waved through and not stopped. We have always felt completely safe walking around the city of Merida, even in the evenings.
Who owns Casa Kaana?
Jeff Herron and Dina Lewis own Casa Kaana. We purchased the home in 2009, made some improvements, and visit several times per year. We hope you enjoy our little slice of paradise! If you have questions, please contact us or post your question in the Comments below.
